DMCEWU appeals for additional fund & urban utility fee/entry fee

DIMAPUR, MAY 15: The DMC Employees Welfare Union (DMCEWU has appealed to Nagaland Government to grant additional fund as well as allow the municipal body to collect urban utility fee/entry fee from all commercial vehicles entering DMC jurisdiction.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the Union recalled that it had served an ultimatum on March 7 due to non-payment of salaries for the 5 preceding months. They had threatened a ‘no pay, no work’ protest.
“However, in that regard, upon getting assurance from the Advisor to Urban Development and Municipal Affairs to look into the matter, the DMC Employees Welfare Union in its meeting dated March 21, 2024 called off the proposed agitation and resolved to cooperate with the Government till May 15, 2024”, it stated.
But taking into consideration the Model Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha elections, the Union appealed to the State Government to do the needful and grant additional fund and allow DMC to collect said fees.
“Further, the DMC Employees Welfare Union also requests as all employees of DMC to cooperate with the DMC Employees Welfare Union in that context and the competent authority is also further requested for resolving the matter soon after the Parliament Electioneering MCC is withdrawn”, it stated.
