DMC contest for ‘cleanest colony’ in Dimapur

Dimapur, July 15: The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has decided to start the ‘Cleanest Colony in Dimapur Competition 2020’ from July. The competition is part of the ‘A Better Dimapur’ initiative of the civic body.
This was decided in a meeting of the panel of judges with DMC Administrator Albert Ezung.
A press release from EAC & convener Khiuzan Kaurinta and DNSU vice president & member secretary, Sentimeren Pongen encouraged all the colonies under DMC to keep their colony clean and also called upon all colony GBs and chairmen to mobilize residents and take active part in the competition and initiate cleanliness drive from time to time. The team also appealed the public to maintain civic sense and have a community mindset, not for money or prize but for a better Dimapur.
The judging will be done on the basis of six criteria – garbage management, drainage management, stagnant water, road maintenance, sanitation, and colony community participation. Under DMC, out of 23 wards more than 100 colonies have been demarcated into small and large colony.
There will be no elimination round and subsequently all colonies will be given points every month. Points will also be given for e-waste management.
The prizes for the winning colony will be Rs 1 lakh, and Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 for the 1st and 2nd runners up respectively for both big & small colonies. Prizes of Rs 10000 respectively will also be given to the winner of every quarterly competition for both small as well as big colonies.
Judges includes Khiuzan Kaurinta (EAC) as convener and Sentimeren Pongen, DNSU vice president as member secretary and other judges are one member from Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Tsenthungo Nyamo, president Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF), Vimeno, vice president Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD), Onen Jamir, general secretary GBs Union Dimapur.
