DMC bans sale of meat in open air

Dimapur, January 28: The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has informed all colonies to ban all slaughter/ processing of meat animals meant for human consumption and sale of meat in open air or unhygienic environment.
DMC said this is as per the decision of the meeting held on January 25 between DMC Veterinary Public Health Cell and representatives of colonies.
The DMC directed that all meat animals be taken to the Modern Slaughter House at Burma Camp, Khatkhati road for processing. It also directed all meat shops to upgrade to provide hygienic environment free from dust and flies and clean running water in the shops.
The DMC said colony authorities can impose fines as deemed fit for implementation of the resolution.

The DMC has also informed all colonies to submit the names of the colony in-charge for collection of electronic waste and the location of the collection point in each colony.
