DLSU to organize Jubilee Nite on Oct 15

The Dimapur Lotha Student’s Union (DLSU), which is celebrating its golden jubilee from October 14 to October 15 at the premise of the Dimapur Government College, is also set to organise a “Jubilee Nite”, a musical extravaganza on the evening of October 15, and draw the curtains of the celebration.
According to K Mhachio Lotha, convenor of the organising committee of the golden jubilee celebration, the Jubilee Nite was not originally planned but was added later in response to suggestions from others and as a way to recognise the union’s pioneers.
Addressing the media persons here at Dimapur Government College playground in the backdrop of the setting up of the stage for the jubilee celebration, he revealed that the event is going to be exclusively about music and renowned bands and musicians About Us, Paradigm Shift, 7-year-old guitarist Gideon Kithan, and Merebini Patton are going to be a part of it. Further, he said, it will not be an exclusive event only for the Lotha community and requested all communities to be a part of the celebration, adding that it’ll be an open and free event.
About Us will be performing 10 songs during the concert, of which five would be their originals and five covers. Similarly, Paradigm Shift also would be performing seven songs comprising originals and covers. Gideon Kithan, meanwhile, would be doing three performances. On questions about their upcoming projects, a member of About Us told the media persons that they are presently working on their first album which is scheduled to release in the month of November this year.
It should be noted that About Us, which was formed in 2019, recently signed a record deal with Frontiers Records Srl, Naples, Italy, a label that promotes established names such as Mr. Big, Michael Kiske, Stryper, and White Lion, among others.
Earlier, Lotha had also mentioned that Dy. CM Y Patton would serve as the “jubilee guest” on October 15 and that the inaugural session on October 14 would be graced by Advisor, Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan. Furthermore, Mmhonlumo Kikon, Advisor IT, Science and Technology, NRE, will attend valedictory session, and MLA Moatoshi and NDPP Vice President Y.M. Humtsoe will attend the Jubilee Nite as special invitees.
