DLSAs organizes legal literacy class, awarness programs

Dimapur, July 30: Phek District Legal Services Authority organized Legal Literacy Class with the students of Phek Government College. The programme was chaired by Vethothi Vero, Project Assistant, welcome address by Shepalu Venuh, Vice principal, PGC. Introductory speech by Cheliam Khiamniungan, Secretary, PDLSA, the resource persons Mamang Singson Retainer Lawyer,PDLSA, presented on the topic Constitutional Rights and Duties.
Sekhotso Rhokha, Panel Lawyer, PDLSA spoke on the topic Consumer Protection Act 1986. After which there was an interaction hour.
Dimapur: Dimapur DLSA organised a workshop on Basic procedure of law, Lok Adalat and Money Lenders Act at Lengrijan Village, Dimapur. The programme was chaired by Sangto Longchar, Project Assistant, DDLSA. Zuchumbeni Ngullie, Panel Lawyer spoke on basic procedure of law. Nathaniel Kevichusa, retainer Lawyer spoke on Lok Adalat and the Nagaland victim compensation scheme. Panel lawyer Khumchuba Chang spoke on money lenders act. Shri Ajongba Imchen, CJM & Secretary DDLSA summed up the programme by exhorting the gathering.
Wokha: The Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) held a legal awareness campaign for women and youths on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 and training on paper Bags/Gift bags on July 27.
Advocate Shanchobeni P Lotha, Project Assistant, WDLSA spoke on rights and privileges and various support systems under Domestic Violence Act. The PA also highlighted that the day’s event was an activity towards NALSA Poverty alleviation schemes and for a Plastic free zone campaign in our state calling all to be asset to oneself as well as to the society.
Master trainers Daisy Tungoe Para legal Volunteer and Athungbeni Para Legal Volunteer WDLSA trained youths and women in making paper bags/container, where they stressed that through such skill based activities on can earn minimum income even and contribute towards a Plastic free society. Vandeno, Vice President and Chumjano, Finance Secretary GA/Project Yankho Eloe Ekhung delivered welcome address and vote of thanks.
Mon: The Mon District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) organised a one-day legal awareness programme for DBs and GBs of Aboi Sub-division at Aboi town on July 26.
Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary Mon DLSA Seyielenuo Mezhii, NJS delivered the keynote address and spoke on the “Basic procedures of Law (Cr.Pc/C.Pc procedure) provided under Rules of Administration of justice & police.
She also stated that Nagaland State is very unique because of the special act under Article 371 in the Indian constitution. “Justice, equity and good conscience must be practiced both in the Indian Judiciary Court and Customary,” she underscored.
EAC Aboi Lithrila Sangtam, NCS in her welcome speech said that DBs & GBs must be sincere and do justice for they are the one who implement the law & order at the grassroot level in the state of Nagaland besides that she also encouraged the practice of record keeping in the customary court for more effective running in near future.
Topha Konyak, Panel Lawyer spoke on the topic Lok Adalat and it’s mechanism and money lender Act & Jurisdictional Authority and M Moba, Retainer Lawyer shared the activities of MDLSA and also gave closing remark where he encouraged the participants to make awareness or transmit knowledge to public on what they have learned throughout the programme.
