DLSAs observes World Population Day

Dimapur, July 13: District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) observed World Population Day by conducting various activities and programmes on July 11.
Mon DLSA held programme with the students of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Mon. Fr. Martin Don Bosco Higher Secondary School delivered short speech and N Mannon, Project Assistant MDLSA spoke on significance of the day. Dominic Kaiba Konyak, Panel Lawyer spoke on gender equality, poverty, maternal health, human rights and family planning. M Moba Retainer Lawyer highlighted on activities of district legal services authority and closing remarks. Altogether 200 students participated in the event.
Tuensang DLSA distributed pamphlets on World Population Day and standards which are set to support family planning. Kumdilong Kessen, JMFC & Secretary TDLSA, Yimtsusangla Chang, Project Assistant. TDLSA and Soteth Anar, TDLSA Panel Lawyer and PLVs participated took part in the programme.
Wokha District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Indianeers Skills Academy, Wokha observed World Population Day with youths.
Khrievono Seletsu JMFC and Secretary WDLSA in her inaugural address encouraged the youths to do their best for the Society. Advocate & Retainer Lawyer Meribemo A Lotha spoke on the topic, ‘Population Growth and Poverty alleviation’ emphasized on reproductive health and growth and the need to also seek ways to alleviate poverty.
Gracy Ezung, Notary Public speaking on “maternal health and family planning” said that there are important aspects for long term positive impact on the physical and economic life in the society. Speaking on ‘Gender Equality and Human Rights’ Shanchobeni P Lotha, Advocate & Project Assistant, WDLSA says it is the state of equal access to resources and opportunities and in decision making. 30 youths registered for 4th batch free training with the Indianeers Skills Academy.
In Dimapur, youths and women at Ragailong Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur attended a programmme by DDLSA where Yanbemo Ngullie, Panel lawyer spoke on Basic Legal Rights. Dzuvinuo Chadi, Panel Lawyer spoke on the topic Gender Equality and Povertya and Maternal Health & Family Planning was presented by Elito, Panel Lawyer while Temjensoba, Panel Lawyer spoke on Human Rights. He emphasised on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Jongba Imchen, Chief Judicial Magistrate & Secretary, DDLSA summed up the programme by challenging the gathering to be aware of their rights and stand up to fight for justice. He also urged the gathering to avail the services provided by the Legal Services Authority.
Mokokchung DLSA in collaboration with SAKHI One Stop Centre, Mokokchung observed World Population Day with Tsusapang Baptist Church Women Ministry. WV Patton CJM and Secretary MDLSA delivered the keynote address. Topics on Human Rights; Women Rights; Maternity Benefit Act are enunciated by Mapujungla Pongen, DPA and Mapusongla, Counselor SAKHI One Stop Centre spoke on their services provided to women in distress or in need.
Kiphire DLSA held programme at Litsaoung village. Hotingkiu Panel Lawyer was the resource person while the programme was chaired by Asuthong plv. Resource person spoke on the importance of world population day. The programme was attended by 91 participants.
Longleng DLSA celebrated at Police Baptist Church where PA spoke on the causes and effect of population growth. While Panel Lawyer Monyei Phom spoke on Population Day. Others who spoke were Kezevinou Thepa, Superintendent Observation Home on Human Rights. The Kohima DLSA also observed World Population Day with jail inmates at the Kohima District Jail by organizing a legal awareness programme on Mental Health and Human Rights.
