Dimapur, September 21: Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) conducted legal awareness on the topic ‘Fundamental duties, The Right of Children to free and compulsory Education Act, 2009, The Consumer Protection Act, 1986 and National Food Security Act,2013’, with the executive members of Zunheboto Range Students Union, Zunheboto on September 18 at District Court Complex, Zunheboto.
Wokono Yhoshii, Secretary, ZDLSA, spoke on the topic ‘Fundamental duties’ which are provided under Art.51-A of the Constitution of India and emphasised on Art.51-A(g) which states that it shall be the duty of every citizen of India to protect and improve the natural environment including forest, lake, rivers and wildlife.
Retainer lawyer Easter H Yepthomi spoke on ‘Right of children to free and compulsory , 2009’ and ‘The consumer protection act, 1986’. She highlighted key features of the RTE Act and requested the student body to pursue the issue of practice of releasing capitation fee by Government Primary School which is in contravention to the Act. With regard to Consumer Protection Act, she gave an overall idea and purpose behind the enactment of the Act.
Nagaholi K Awomi, panel lawyer, ZDLSA spoke on ‘National Food Security Act, 2013’. She briefly highlighted on the aims and objectives of the Act, and also elaborated different schemes provided under the National Food Security Act.
The program was chaired by Easter H Yepthomi, retainer lawyer, ZDLSA.
Longleng: Longleng DLSA organized an online essay competition on the topic “Online schooling, Can it be the future of education”? The essay competition was held among members of LLC Longleng. Altogether 2 participants from 6 LLC took part in the competition.
K Shingmei of Goodshepherd High School was declared winner of the competition, A Yingli Phom of Goodshepherd School came second and 3rd – Shingmei T Phom of B. Government Hr Sec School Longleng.
Before give away certificate and gift hampers to the winners, Ajongba Imchen, CJM/secretary LDLSA enlightened the students about legal services and legal rights. (Page News Service)
