Dimapur, January 28: The District Legal Services Authorities commemorated Republic Day by setting up legal stalls at various ceremonial venues in all the District headquarters in the State on January 26.
The legal stalls were setup not only as exhibitions stall but served as a one-stop center for the masses to avail free legal services, counselling, advice and distributing free legal literacy & literature materials. The literacy items were booklets, pamphlets & flyers on simplified law books on various topics of legislations, rights, provisions of law and highlighted issues related to the rights and welfare of children, senior citizens and women.
On the occasion, the officers and members of the District Legal Services Authorities which includes the District judges, judicial magistrates, lawyers and para legal volunteers could reach out to the public by carrying the message of availing the free legal services, accessing the justice system and also spreading about legal awareness and empowerment of every citizen through legal literacy.
In Dimapur, Dimapur District Legal Services Authority set up legal stall at the DDSC Stadium which was graced by Metsubo, Minister of Urban Development, Municipal Affairs and Taxes, as chief guest in presence of Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur and Y.Longkumer, Principal District & Sessions Judge & Chairperson, Dimapur DLSA along with panel lawyers and para legal volunteers. Another team of Dimapur DLSA led by Ajonba Imchen, CJM & Secretary of Dimapur DLSA along with the panel lawyers organised a programme and setting up a legal stall at Nuiland Town.
In Kiphire, Kiphire DLSA organised a legal stall to provide the public with free access to legal services and other benefits.
In Kohima, the Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) headed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate & Secretary, Phuleto Yeptho, NJS accompanied by the panel lawyers set up legal awareness stall at New Secretariat Plaza.
The legal stall was visited by P.B Acharya, Governor of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister, Commissioner & Home Secretary Home, DGP and others.
In Longleng, the legal stall was chaired by Tucuno Vamuzo, CJM & Secretary of Longleng DLSA.
In Mokokchung, legal stall was set up by Mokokchung DLSA and manned by retainer lawyer, panel lawyers and para-legal volunteers.
In Mon, Mon DLSA set up legal stall which was chaired by Inalo Zhimomi, District & Sessions Judge/Chairman Mon DLSA and Seyielenuo Mezhü, Civil Judge (Jr. Dvn)/Secretary, Wokha DLSA.
In Phek, the Phek District Legal Services Authority organised and manned the legal aid stall set up at local ground, Phek.
In Peren, the officials of the Peren DLSA set up legal awareness stall with the main objective to connect and reach out to the general public participating at the event.
In Tuensang, District Legal Services Authority set up legal services stall, where pamphlets in English and local dialects of Chang, Yimchunger, Sangtam and Khiamniungan were distributed to the masses.
In Wokha, the legal stall was set up at ceremonial venue, Public Ground, Wokha decorated with banners, posters of legal services & awareness and the legal stall stacked with resourceful legal literature pamphlets and booklets.
In Zunheboto, Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority marked the celebration of Republic Day by setting up legal services stall at Local Ground, Zunheboto.
