Mon, October 19: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Mon conducted one-day legal awareness programme with the apex organization of Konyak women – Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), Mopong Unit on October 18 at Mopong town.
N Mannon, panel lawyer speaking on human trafficking stated that 51% of human trafficking victim’s are female. Most people use those victims for recovering of loans or other debts, she said and urged them to stop the practice of early marriage because it leads to a poverty life. Besides she also spoke on Domestic Violence Act, and reminded the participants the importance of One Stop Centre which is already available in Mon District.
K Topha (panel lawyer) spoke on consumer & RTI topics.
M Moba, retainer lawyer chaired the programme. Echi Konyak, President KNSK, Mopong Unit gave the welcome note.
The DLSA Mon also conducted sanitation programme and drive with Government High School Legal Literary Club, Mopong town on October 18.
K Topha, panel lawyer spoke on the importance of sanitation activities and encouraged the students to live a healthy life both physically & spiritually. He also spoke on various sub-topics like POCSO, RTE, Juvenile Rights, CWC and urged the students to be more vigilant by knowing one’s rights.
M Moba, retainer lawyer spoke on LLC activities and encouraged both the LLC teacher in charge and students to be more enthusiastic in knowing and doing legal rights activities even in the days to come. After the programme the participants had a mass cleanliness strive in and around the school campus.
