Dimapur, June 14: A day long district level workshop on Empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions Spatially (EPRIS) ‘Asset mapping & activity planning’ was held today in the conference hall, De Oriental hotel Kohima.
EPRIS is a comprehensive outreach program initiated by ISRO, Department of Space, Government of India with an aim to assist village PRI/VDBs in making developmental plans, implementation and monitoring through the operational procedures and utilizations of data base prepared with space-based inputs.
The purpose of the workshop is to take forward the regular day to day department activity be it in planning, execution and monitoring and how to get the best result out of any activity which is carried out, said Deputy Commissioner Kohima Rajesh Soundararajan IAS addressing the participants at the district level workshop. He commented that most of the Government department’s approach has become more of a person centric rather than system centric in planning and execution stating that the same working system has been repeated again and again not taking into account whether it will be beneficial for the larger section.
Rajesh also said that we do not leverage any technology which is available saying that there is so much scope to leverage on the existing technology and to streamline and to do things in sync with the technology available.
He also said that the workshop was initiated to leverage the existing technology for the best functioning of the department. He also added that this is the transitional period of advancement in technology which is passing down to the grassroots level. He also said that this is the transitional phase for all and we should be the one to be the first mover of technology and syncing the technology with all the activities and once the system is in place it will be beneficial for all and the functioning of respective department.
