District Health officials asked to be ready for Heat-Related Illnesses

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, APRIL 15: In anticipation of heatwaves that are expected to hit the country in the coming months, Nagaland Health authorities have requested its district officials to prepare their respective healthcare facilities on Heat-Related Illnesses (HRI).
In a circular issued on Monday, the Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Motsuthung Patton, also requested all Chief Minister Officers/Medical Superintendents to disseminate Public Health Advisory on heat and heatwave at their respective jurisdictions.
“You are aware that above-normal temperatures are likely to prevail over most parts of the country and the State as per the IMD’s seasonal outlook for the summer of 2024. This emphasises the need to strengthen health sector preparedness for prevention and management of heat-related illnesses.
“In this matter, though the actual temperatures may not be too high in many areas of the State, any appreciable deviation from the normal temperatures has the potential to affect adversely the population, especially the vulnerable groups”, it stated.
