Dimapur, September 4: The Naga Students Federation (NSF) has demanded the Government of Nagaland to set up an inquiry on the discrepancies in distribution of free school uniforms to students of Government schools.
In a representation to the Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland, the NSF said during its education tour 2018 along with federating units, the major issues/discrepancies identified was in the distribution of school uniforms.
The discrepancies included shortage and delay in supply of the school uniforms, with most of the schools not receiving adequate supply of school uniforms (pant, skirt and shirt). Most of the schools were also issued with only sweater and a pair of socks (all of which were of the same size) and the uniforms could not fit even students from the lower primary classes.
In few schools, NSF said students were given just the cloth materials for school pant, skirt and shirt but without stitching cost. It mentioned that the cloth materials supplied were of the lowest quality.
In this connection, the federation demanded the Government to set up an enquiry on the discrepancies in the interest of the student community and intimate to the NSF the measures to be taken within a period of 15 days.(Page News Service)
