Diocese of Kohima celebrates Bible Sunday

Dimapur, August 25: The Diocese of Kohima celebrated Bible Sunday on August 25 across the parishes in the Diocese. The day was marked with much fervor and reverence to the word of God.
Bible Sunday is an annual event decided by the Regional Bishop’s conference of North East India. The Mary Help of Christians Cathedral commemorated the occasion on August 25 with Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, as the main celebrant for the Holy mass. Frs. Carolus Neisalhou and Victor concelebrated the Holy Eucharist with hundreds of faithful followers to mark the occasion.
In his homily, Bishop James elaborated on the six fundamental aspects of the Holy Bible. He said that the Bible is the single most important and most influential book ever written. He added that the Bible has transformed individual and the word.
The second phase of the celebration was the Bible quiz competition in the church. The winners and the participants were all presented with cash award and other gifts. The first three individual winners will represent the parish in the regional sector.
