Dimapur, July 28: Disaster Response personnel on late Tuesday night rescued two persons marooned in the middle of Chathe River at 6th Mile, Dimapur.
According to the District Commandant of Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF Dimapur, Y Khenito Chishi, the two persons-aged 17 and 22 respectively-had gone fishing to the river that night, and were ‘stuck in the middle’ of Chathe.
Residents in the vicinity could not enter the water due to the strong currents, prompting EAC Chumukedima to seek the help of the Disaster Response Force.
“SDRF team with the help of Police and volunteers rescued them at around 9:30 p.m. Both persons reside at 4th Mile, near Agri Expo.,” he informed. (Page News Service)
