Dimapur Rly Station fails to hoist National Flag

Rly no flag

Dimapur, August 15: As India celebrated 74th Independence Day today across the country, where every government institutions unfurled the National Flag and marked the occasion, the Dimapur Railway Station failed to hoist the tri-colour, for reasons best known to them.
The Dimapur Railway Station had boasted of hoisting the biggest National Flag flying high in its premises, which was installed in February this year. However, it was taken down three months back, after the flag was damaged. As of today, there remains only the Flag Post and no National Flag.
It may be mentioned that all the railway stations in the country have hoisted National Flag at the entrance on tall flag posts.
Sources said that all the departments of the Indian Railways, including the RPF today hoisted the National Flag in their respective premises, but the main flag of the Dimapur Railway Station was not hoisted.
Stating that it is the responsibility of the Station Superintendent, Dimapur to make arrangements for hoisting the tri-colour on Independence Day, sources said that after the torn National Flag was removed three months back from the flag post, no initiative has been taken by the concerned officials to inform the higher ups about the requirements.
This incident has brought resentment among the Railway Staff as well as the general public, who feel that on occasions like Independence Day, at least the National Flag should have been hoisted outside the Railway Station.
Station Superintendent could not be contacted for comments. (Page News Service)
