Dimapur police nabs 8 extortionists

Dimapur, April 25: In its relentless fight against extortion in the city, Dimapur police has apprehended 8 extortionists from different parts of the city for extorting money in the name of different Naga national groups.
According to police, the Anti-Extortion Team (AET) of Dimapur police today apprehended one person identified as Tovi Swu (29), ‘ss’ Deputy Secretary, NPGN NNC (N/A) of Pishikhe village, presently a resident of Pishikhe village Dimapur while extorting illegal tax from autorickshaw drivers at Purana Bazar daily market area in Dimapur.
The AET seized Rs 1400, 4 leaflets of illegal yearly vehicle tax slip, and one demand note of NPGN NNC (N/A) addressed to the president and its working members, Bamboo Union Dimapur.
According to police, the arrested accused stated that he was collecting yearly vehicle tax of Rs.700 per autorickshaw from the drivers.
In this connection, a case has been registered at Dimapur East Police Station.
On April 24, the AET apprehended one person identified as Kheshito Zhimomi (29), ‘ss’ Razupiou NSCN (IM), presently a resident of Sringrijan, Dimapur while extorting illegal yearly tax @ Rs 2000 per truck from truck drivers at ISBT junction, Purana Bazar, Dimapur.
The AET recovered Rs 4080 and 18 leaflets of illegal yearly tax slip of NSCN (K) from his possession.
Again on April 24, Dimapur police personnel apprehended one person identified as Inato Yeptho (32), a resident of Khehokhu village Dimapur and one mobile handset, Rs 200, 4 NNC GPRN (N/A) information yearly tax slip 2019-2020 were seized from his possession.
The Anti-Extortion Team (AET) on April 23 apprehended one Jubito Yepthomi (26), presently a resident of New Colony, Purana Bazar, Dimapur while extorting illegal yearly tax from truck drivers at ISBT junction Purana Bazar, Dimapur.
Rs 6860 and 29 leaflets of illegal yearly tax – 15 leaflets of NSCN(K); 12 leaflets of NNC (N/A) and 2 leaflets of NSCN (R) – was seized from his possession.
Police said the accused stated that he was a sympathizer of NSCN(K), NSCN (R) and NNC (N/A) and collecting yearly illegal tax from drivers at the rate of Rs 4000 for NSCN(K), Rs 2000 for NSCN(R) and Rs 1500 for NNC (N/A).
On April 22 Dimapur police apprehended one Inahoto Yeptho ‘ss’ Rajepuye of NSCN (IM) UT-I while extorting from butchers at Purana Bazar daily market. Rs 1375 was recovered/seized from his possession and a case has been registered at Dimapur East Police Station for further investigation.
Again on April 22, Dimapur police apprehended one Vito Awomi while extorting cash from truck drivers at Naharbari sand stockiest area Dimapur. Police said he was a sympathizer of NNC(N/A) and collecting yearly tax from commercial truck loaded with sand.
Cash amount of Rs 2000 was seized from his possession.
Earlier on April 16, Dimapur police personnel apprehended one Akishe (27), ‘ss’ Lance Corporal of NSCN (K), presently a resident of Eralibill Dimapur while extorting cash from trucks stationed at sand stock near T.K Service.
On frisking /checking Rs 8200, 35 Spasmoproxyvon capsules, 4 Nitrosun and one mobile handset was recovered/seized from his possession.
On April 13, Dimapur police (AET) apprehended one Phuketo (34), a resident of IMC Hall, Supply Colony Dimapur while collecting illegal tax from fish and vegetable vendors at New Market area in the name of NSCN(U) and seized Rs 1500 from his possession.

On April 24, Dimapur GRPS personnel during routine checking duty at Platform No.5 at Railway station Dimapur intercepted one Babul Hussain (22), son of Late Husain Ali and seized 185 boxes of Spasmoproxyvon tablet containing 26,640 capsules and 16 boxes of Nitrosun tablets containing 1600 capsules from his possession.
In this connection, a case has been registered at Dimapur GRPS and further investigation is on.
On April 14, Dimapur police personnel apprehended one Dhurba Sharma alias Sunny (49) from Batta Charali and recovered/seized approx 4000 capsules of illegal banned Spasmoproxyvon.
Accordingly in this connection a case has been registered at Dimapur East Police Station and further investigation is on.
