Dimapur, April 28: Under the project ‘Educom’, Dimapur Police produced a video titled “20 lakhs and 2 hours: Dropout’s Time” as a part of a community awareness generation on tackling frauds (ATM, Bank Account, etc) committed by unscrupulous elements using modern technology such as internet, Mobile, etc.
In this 12.28 minutes video released by a channel ‘Dropout’s Time’ available in YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmCI3imzTFk), the role of police personnel have been enacted by actual police officers of West police station, Dimapur.
Directed by Rajeev Bhujel and written by Ajit Aky, the entire story revolves around the world of spammers and their modus operandi in duping gullible people. Many of the scammers are school dropouts from Nagaland and after joining dubious companies in metro cities they too start to cheat people.
In the video, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Relo T Aye encouraged the general public to cooperate with the police to nab such spammers and also advised people not to share their personal credential such as ATM Pins, Bank account numbers etc., to anyone.
He exhorted the people “to remain cautious from such elements”.
Talking to Nagaland Page, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vishal, IPS said, “Crimes in Nagaland are becoming more and more technologically advanced. Our best deterrence is to make public aware about two things–how to tackle such attempts to dupe the gullible people and secondly to report such matters to police and other concerned agencies such as banks”.
He further asserted that Dimapur police is ever ready to catch these perpetrators and bring them to justice. This project ‘Educom’ is being conceptualized with the motive to highlight such socio economic crimes and ways to tackle them.
He further added under this project more such informative content will be produced and shared for public awareness.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Home Commissioner, Ramaiah Ramakrishnan congratulated Dimapur Police for the efforts in creating awareness on these kind of fraudulent activities carried out by few criminal elements in the society.
Ramaiah said, “The video carries a good message for the society. Now we are getting a number of complaints on online frauds, ATM frauds in our state and Nagaland Police has successfully arrested all those accused.”
He further asserted Dimapur Police had also issued stern warnings to those criminals to desist from carrying out such fraudulent activities in the state. (Page News Service)
