Dimapur police cracks triple murder case, 2 arrested

Dimapur, June 12: Dimapur police cracked the triple murder case within 9 days by arresting the culprits involved in the gruesome act.
Two of the accused, who had escaped from the window of the residential cum business complex after killing three persons on June 4 last were arrested from two different areas in Karbi Anglong by a team of Dimapur police with the help of the locals and Assam police today.
Talking to media persons, DCP (Crime) and PRO, Dimapur, Yarenthung Ngullie said that it was a very difficult case to crack as the investigating team of Dimapur police had no clues about the accused after they fled from Dimapur as the hotel owner where they were employed could not provided the addresses of any of them. The accused also did not possess any mobile phones, which could be traced.
The PRO said that depending on the physical analysis of the suspects and the inputs provided by the Karbi people, it was found that they had not travelled towards Golaghat but had remained in Manja sector of Karbi Anglong. The police team took help from the Manja police and SP Karbi Anglong and with the help of the locals, who could identify the photographs of the accused, the police team zeroed in the suspects in an area called “Duskilo” of Shikari Timong village under Diphu PS.
The Dimapur police team arrested the first accused, identified as Arun Rongpi (19), s/o Monsingh Rongpi in the morning and kept him in Manja Police Station. The team then search for the other accused and arrested during an operation. He is identified as Waisong Engti alias Bimo Singh Terong (18), S/o late Lee Engti.
Police said that although they admitted committing the murder, they are yet to disclose the motive behind the murder.
During interrogation, they disclosed that after escaping from the window, they reach Dimapur Railway Station at 5 a.m. and boarded a train and reached Diphu and then reached their respective homes.
Meanwhile, the Dimapur police have expressed gratitude to Superintendent of Police, Karbi Anglong, OC Manja PS, the Karbi community of Dimapur and NGOs of Diphur and Manja who helped in locating the culprits.
The PRO said that investigation into the case would follow to unearth the motive behind the killing. (Page News Service)
