Dimapur, September 16: Nagaland Police has cautioned the public against cyber criminals who are resorting to novel ways to con gullible persons through social media sites, particularly Facebook.
Explaining the modus operandi, police stated that the cyber criminals create fake profiles of Government/Police officers or other persons in Facebook and send friend request as per the friend list of the person impersonated and contact them through Facebook.
The criminals beseech the friends and relatives to deposit money in e-wallets claiming to be in acute financial crisis.
“Beware of financial scams, never transfer money to such claims made through Facebook”, police warned.
