Dimapur police bust gang of vehicle lifters


Dimapur, May 24: Dimapur Police has busted a gang of vehicle lifters from in and around Chumukedima and Diphupar area, with the help of Chumukedima Village Council and Chumukedima Youth Organization.
Based on specific inputs, Chumukedima Police on May 18 arrested 3 persons identified as Roland alias Janthungo Murry (27 years), S/o Chenio Murry of Wokha village, Wochumo Ngullie (23years), S/o Nyambemo Ngullie of Sakhi village under Wokha district residing in Razuphe Basa village, Dimapur and Zachumo Murry, S/o- Thungdemo Murry of Wokha village.
One Motorcycle Suzuki Gixxer and one Royal Enfield M/Cycle were recovered by police while conducting multiple raids in different hideouts.
During investigation, it has been ascertained that the gang is involved in inter-district lifting of bikes and has been involved in numerous crimes, whereby vehicles stolen in Wokha were disposed off in Dimapur and vice versa.
Infact, one of the habitual offenders, Zachumo Murry was detained at Peducha Police Outpost, under Kohima district, while proceeding to Wokha and recovered one Royal Enfield M/Cycle B/R NO. NL07M 0611 (Black colour).
Further, on May 24, 2 persons namely, Tokai Jakhalu/ S.S. Captain of NSCN (U), S/o late Khevito Jakhalu, and Peter Aye alias Aja, residents of 4th mile Dimapur, were arrested along with one stolen M/Cycle Hero Splendor in connection with the same case. The gang is involved in vehicle theft and receiving and disposing of stolen vehicles.
Dimapur Police acknowledged the contribution of Chumukedima Youth Organization in busting this racket. Further, efforts are on to make more arrest.
