Dimapur inter-school athletic meet culminates

Dimapur, November 10: The Dimapur Inter School Athletic Meet 2023, organized by Dimapur Athletics and the All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) NBSE Unit Dimapur under the aegis of Nagaland Athletics, concluded on November 9.
A total of 18 private schools from Dimapur participated, featuring a range of athletic events for both boys and girls. These events were categorized into three age groups: under 14, under 16, and above 16. The district administration extended support by sponsoring all medals, trophies, and certificates for the girl participants under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme.
The closing ceremony was graced by Nini Sekhose, ANPSA Central President, as the chief guest. In her address, she inspired the students to dedicate themselves to God through sports and commended all participants for their efforts. She highlighted the potential benefits of sports quotas in Government service for students keen on sports. She emphasized that sports foster discipline, hard work, dedication, good health, and joy in our lives.
Khiuzan Kaurinta, EAC Dimapur, attended as a special guest. She motivated students to explore diverse career paths in sports, including fields like sports medicine, sports psychology, sports counseling, sports nutrition, and coaching.
The event concluded with the announcement of awards in various categories:
Best Athlete Awards: Junior Boys: Inito Chishi from Pilgrim Higher Secondary School; Junior Girls: Mehrin Beck from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School; Senior Girls: Lolila Sangtam from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School and Senior Boys: Abenthung from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School
Team Championships: Junior Team Champion (Under 16): Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (Champion); Pilgrim Higher Secondary School (Runner-Up)
Senior Team Champion (Above 16): Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (Champion), Pilgrim Higher Secondary School (Runner-Up)
Best Discipline Team Award: Cornerstone Higher Secondary School
