Dimapur, June 13: The Dimapur District Task Force meeting on introduction of Rotavirus Vaccine (RVV) in routine immunization was held in the DC’s conference hall on June 12.
DPO, (RCH/UIP), Dr. Rebecca Y. Sema highlighted the impact of Rotavirus scenario in India, WHO’s recommendation on the vaccine and why there is no alternatives to Rotavirus vaccine. She also gave an overview of Universal Immunization Programme.
The DPO said that Rotavirus vaccine is the only specific prevention against Rotavirus diarrhea which will be administered to the child in three doses, five drops of vaccine in each dose starting from 6 weeks of age and then at 10 & 14 weeks. The vaccine will be available in all health centres free of cost by the last part of July 2019.
