Dimapur Art Festival inaugurated

Dimapur, October 15: With the objective of bringing local artists together and promote their talent, the first edition of Dimapur Art Festival was inaugurated today by DMC Administrator Albert Ezung, here at Super Market. It was organized by Eastern Art Council.
Ezung, inaugurating the 5-day long festival, called it a good platform and there are much more to explore and venture out in a time when competition has become steep and being excellence in whatever one chooses to do is the only way out.
He said that while Nagaland has undergone drastic changes in the past half decade, and changes are inevitable, qualitative changes is more important in a society comparing to materialistic changes, which are important too and thus called for a change in the mindset of the people.
“Art is a medium to express,” he said and added that whatever the society has evolved into, it is because of new ideas and called for community participation in fighting the challenges that Dimapur faces today.
The inaugural day also included an art competition for students of different schools below class 10.
Ezung asked the students to be sure of what they want to do in life and whatever they chose, they excel in it.
Later, coordinator of EAC, M. Ababe Ezung, mentioned to the media persons that this would now be a yearly event, and though the festival is for five days, the gallery, which was also inaugurated along with the festival, will be a permanent attraction.
The gallery, for now, includes arts of 37 artists and according to Ababe, the prices of the store are reasonable. (Page News Service)
