Dimapur, January 24: Dimapur District Philatelic Exhibition (DIMAPEX-19) was held today at Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, which was graced by DC Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, NCS as special guest.
The occasion also saw the presence of the descendants of those who were part of the Naga Labour Corps who went to France during World War-I. Convenor of World War-I, Sumi Naga Labour Corps Association, Dr H Hotokhu Chishi, who spoke on the occasion highlighted how 2000 Nagas from different tribes had participated in the First World War in France, and how some of them returned while some were killed during the war. He said it is important to remember the contribution of those who formed the part of Naga history, as they celebrate 100 years of Naga Labour Corps.
Dr Chishi also highlighted how the members did research on those people who left Nagaland to France on the call of the then British Government, and how they have been able to document the history in the form of a souvenir.
On the occasion, a special cover of the Naga Labour Corps was also released.
Another special cover of All Nagaland Private School Association (ANPSA) was also released to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the Association.
President, ANPSA, Andrew Ahoto informed that the souvenir of the ANPSA Silver Jubilee would be released soon.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol lauded the contribution of private schools in the education sector and said despite the teachers receiving lesser salaries and those teachers in Government schools, they have been able to produce excellent results every year.
On the hobby of collecting stamps, the DC Said that people should develop hobbies as it leads to creativity. He said one should utilize their creativity, adding it differs from person to person.
An exhibition of stamps was also inaugurated by the DC.
The day also witnessed Stamp Design Competition.
