DFL kicks off in Dimapur

Temjen Imna urges Naga players to be the best

Dimapur, September 14: Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer today called upon the Naga sportsperson to be the best in any discipline they are engaged with.
Inaugurating the Dimapur Football League (DFL) at DDSC Stadium here, the Minister said time has come that Nagas changes the way they are and play with their hearts.
He said, “Nagas can play football, volleyball and even cricket and even fight and drink…We are only good but not the best. It is time to think to be the best.”
He lamented that many participate for prize money, many organize to show they can organize and Nagas only do things to show it is time pass for them. He said whatever they do, it should be relevant for them.
Expressing happiness that many good teams are participating in the DFL, the Minister hoped that they shine with sportsmanship and one day represent the state in football at higher levels.
He also urged the people to leave aside criticism and build a tolerant and forefront society.
“Dreams are dreams that have to be achieved. Take your dreams and play with vision,” he told the participating teams and asked them to churn out best Naga footballers from it.
He also advised them not to concentrate on social media, but concentrate their lives for greater things for the people. “Out of negativity, we have to stand tall,” he said.
It may be mentioned that the DFL is organized by Naga United FC under Dimapur District Football Association. Altogether 8 teams are participating in the first DFL.
Meanwhile, in today’s first match, A1 Powerplay defeated Chanan FC 4-3 and in the 2nd match, Titan FC defeated Ekhyo 1-nil.
