Nagaland has long way to catch up with other states: Alemtemshi
Dimapur, September 15: The second day of Dimapur Football League organized by Naga United Football Club under the aegis of Dimapur District Football Association was graced by CEO, IDAN, Alemtemshi Jamir IAS as the match patron at DDSC Stadium Dimapur.
Addressing the crowd, Alemtemshi expressed happiness to be in the midst of football enthusiasts and recalled how the people of Nagaland rose to the World Cup fever and the benefits thereof especially for football players.
“Earlier days we played merely for the sake of playing. But if the players today focus on their objectives then there is no reason why we cannot be as good as others,” Alemtemshi said.
He said that our neighbour Manipur was already going ahead of us but expressed huge hope that by organizing such games (tournaments), the game will gain more popularity and players can also excel.
He said he is happy that Naga United FC is organizing such type of tournaments, but pointed out that Nagaland has a long way to catch up with other states. He said organizing such events will make our state especially football players grow from strength to strength and also bring higher standards to the game.
Alemtemshi narrated about seeing a video on whatsapp about how a female robot was dancing and he talked about the possibility of artificial intelligence replacing human beings in the next 20 years. “That is the fear that I have,” he said.
“We become lazy, we don’t try hard and slowly the machines may take over all our systems”, he said. He said a time might come when humans will only sit and watch without doing anything.
Saying that people talking about the emergence of robot, the CEO said there was a lot of things to worry about. “Whether we shall maintain the human dignity or whether we should let the human dignity go away”, he said.
He said, “In an era where human dignity and machine dignity competes, if we want to maintain our human dignity, I think sports, like you play, sports will be a very important role and therefore I would really like to encourage you all to keep on playing sports and also the organisers too, organise such kind of matches now and for the future.”
On September 15, two matches were played. In the first match, FC Alianza defeated P Vizheto by two goals to nil, while in the second match, Dorians Society defeated United V&S by 2 goals to nil.
During the first match, Zumzum, Jersey no 17 of FC Alianza scored the first goal at 23 minutes in the first half and during the second half also he scored the second goal at 49 minutes bagging two goals for the club to win.
During the second match, Ilanger, Jersey no 9 of Dorians Society scored the first goal at 10 minutes while in the second match, Among, Jersey no 10 of the same club scored another goal at 45 minutes.
DFL matches will be played every Friday and Saturday.
