Dimapur, November 17: Dimapur Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union (DENSU) on Saturday had an inaugural cleanliness drive of the stretch of road starting from Metro Hospital to Fellowship Colony junction which the union has officially adopted for the next twelve months under Dimapur Municipal Council’s ‘Clean Dimapur’ initiative.
The occasion was also attended by, besides the members of DENSU, the members of DMC, team of Clean Dimapur and core team of Better Dimapur and others.
Speaking on the occasion, DMC Administrator Moa Sangtam said that it is also the responsibility of the citizens of the city to take care of its cleanliness and not government should be looked to every time and encouraged the union saying that they will be an inspiration for many.
President of DENSU, Stephen Chang said that the union wanted to do something for the society and so when it approached DMC, it was proposed that they should adopt a stretch of road and that is how it all begun. He maintained that change should be brought and not always expected and giving a few hours for the society instead of sitting idle at homes will go a long way.
He also said that the union will come out with detail plans as how to go about it later and is open to anyone who wants to come forward and lend a helping hand to the union.
