DEF Longleng organise outreach programmes against drugs

Dimapur, June 27: The District Police Force (DEF), Longleng observed International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by organizing outreach programs at various churches under Longleng town during the Devotional Sunday Service on June 26.
At various church platforms, the speakers spoke on the negative impacts of drug abuse on families and societies. They spoke on the need for public awareness and encourage mass-based support from all sections of the society to fight against the menace of drugs in the district.
As part of the campaign, banners and posters were displayed in prominent places and on the church premises. Testimonies were given by recovering drug addicts and skits play on “Say no to Drugs” were presented by Sunday School children during the church services.
The churches covered under the campaign were Police Baptist Church, Longleng Town Baptist Church, Ao Baptist Church, Lotha Baptist Church, Gorkha Baptist Church, St. Joseph Church, Revival Church, Konyak Baptist Church, and Bhumnyu Baptist Church.
Meanwhile the Addl. S.P & APIO, Longleng on behalf of DEF Longleng expressed gratitude and appreciation to various churches, NGOs, CSOs, and student bodies for their positive response, cooperation, and support towards the campaign against the drug menace in the district.
Rally against drug abuse
Meanwhile, iIn connection with the celebration of International day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the DEF Longleng organised a rally from Hukphang junction to Lempong junction on June 25.
Addressing the gathering at Lempong junction the Additional Superintendent of Police and Vice President of PSC appealed to the government agencies, civil societies, stakeholders, and the citizens of Longleng to extend their full cooperation and support to the campaign against illicit drugs and alcohol by sharing valuable inputs and information to protect the citizens from the maniacs of alcohol and illicit drugs.
The objective of the rally was to create mass awareness to fight against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in the district. Over the years the Police Force, Longleng has been battling against Alcohol and Illicit drug trafficking by conducting regular frisking and checking in the district. Contraband consignments such as alcohol suspected brown sugar, heroin, etc. were seized and arrested. The arrested persons were booked under various sections of the laws.
