Death exposes bad roads & traffic management

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, MAY 30: The death of Sujoy Das at Kalibari Road, who was run over by a truck on Monday, has raised questions about the entry of heavy vehicles in the town during the day time.
While the roads in the same area are in dilapidated condition with no efforts to repair them for years, it has been risky for 2-wheelers to travel on this road. The current example is the death of Sujoy Das, a member of Nagaland Medical Dealers Association (NMDA), who fell down from his 2-wheeler and was run over by a truck.
The NMDA has urged the Government to address the issue of road conditions where potholes have become a risk to public safety. Quick and effective action in repairing these hazards is urgently needed, a press release issued by NMDA stated.
The NMDA also appealed to the authorities to restrict the passage of overloaded trucks during morning, noon and evening hours, stating that these are peak traffic times when such heavy vehicles become a problem in congested areas, impeding the smooth flow of traffic and posing safety risks.
Meanwhile, the NMDA has expressed condolences to the grieving family for the immeasurable loss they have suffered with the untimely demise of Sujoy Das, fondly known as Bhola Da.
The NMDA also remembered the spirit of service of Bhola Da and said it would strive to improve the community he loved and served so tirelessly.
