DDLSA organizes programme for rural women


Dimapur, June 19: Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) in collaboration with Naga Women Welfare Organisation Diphupar ‘B’ Village, Dimapur organised a programme with rural women on various welfare schemes/rights & privileges at the Council hall, Diphupar ‘B’ Village, Dimapur on June 18.
Khumchuba, Panel lawyer, DDLSA spoke about the various welfare schemes for women provided by the Government and encouraged the gathering to avail the various schemes provided by the government. Sentimenla, Panel lawyer, DDLSA spoke about the basic legal rights with special reference to women. She also emphasised that a female cannot be arrested after sunset and before sunrise. Zuchumbeni Ngullie, Panel Lawyer, DDLSA spoke about The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. She spoke about the domestic violence such as physical violence, sexual violence, emotional violence and economic violence and its redressal.
Y Longkumer, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Dimapur & Chairperson, DDLSA summed up the programme. She also encouraged the womenfolk to stand up and fight for their rights and to avail the services of the Legal Services Authority which is for the downtrodden and marginalised section of the society.
Earlier, the programme was led by Elito Zhimomi, Panel Lawyer, DDLSA followed by the welcome address by the President of Naga Women Welfare Organisation, Diphupar ‘B’ Village.
