DDCF appeals to Govt to set up BSL-2 Lab at CISHR

Dimapur, May 15: Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum, Dimapur (DDCF) has appreciated the government for successfully setting up the virology laboratory, Bio-Safety Level-3 (BSL-3) Lab at Naga Hospital Kohima and subsequently receiving approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
While appreciating the government’s efforts, DDCF also appealed to appeal the government to speed up the setting up of BSL-2 at CISHR, Dimapur at war footing and make it ready for testing as soon as possible.
It said Dimapur being the gateway of Nagaland and being the entry point for all the stranded people coming back to Nagaland and Manipur by railway and roadway, the government should focus more on the readiness of the virology lab testing facility at the entry point i.e. Dimapur, rather than at some other location.
It further said stranded people have already started coming back and some already being accommodated at different quarantine centres in Dimapur, the readiness of the virology lab with testing facility at Dimapur, is all the more imperative.
DDCF urged the government to look into the present scenario and do whatever necessary to urgently complete, setting up the BSL-2 lab at Dimapur, and make it up and running for the safety of all here in Nagaland. (Page News Service)
