Dimapur, May 18: The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has reminded all shops and business establishments within its jurisdiction not to indulge in hoarding or unfair hike in prices of commodities.
In a release, DCCI informed that in coordination with the district administration and the Dimapur Municipal Council, it is trying its best to monitor the market round the clock. It informed that DCCI has its own public grievance cell to take direct complaints from the public and necessary redressal.
For grievance related to unfair trade practice, the DCCI requested public to contact 9436002945, 9402022222 or 700552678 to avoid confusion or misunderstanding.
However, DCCI rued that of late some incidents in the market, including the May 16 assault of shopkeeper, have raised concerns about safety and welfare of business community. “These are result of some unauthorized organizations/unions or individuals trying to enforce their own diktats on shopkeepers and traders,” it said.
The DCCI sought clarification from the district administration whether it has empowered any organization/union or individuals to conduct checking or raids on shops, as such actions are illegal and tantamount to overlapping of jurisdiction.
Meanwhile DCCI informed that police are enforcing the odd-even traffic system on National Highway even on vehicles carrying essential commodities or construction materials, whereas as per the Government directive, such types of vehicles are exempted from traffic restrictions. It requested the Commissioner of Police to look into the matter and issue necessary directive. (Page News Service)
