DCCI appreciates H&FW Deptt

Dimapur, July 26: Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has appreciated the Department of Health and Family Welfare for taking the bold and humongous task of ensuring food safety and standard which is affecting every family in Nagaland.
It further appreciated Commissioner & Secretary, Himato Zhimomi IFS for zealously taking an initiative to ensure quality food to the public which was long overdue considering the health hazard that has affected the population of Nagaland.
It also appreciated Dr. K Vikato Kinimi CMO Dimapur and his team for working tirelessly detecting contaminated food being sold in the market.
Meanwhile, DCCI has warned vegetable, fruits vendors that it would not tolerate selling of chemically treated items for public consumption. It also warned the footpath vendors of selling products in an unhygienic condition.
In the wake of inspection of food joints, bakery and ice cream unit by HFWD which was accompanied by DCCI president and colleagues where some of those units were found unhygienic unfit for human consumption, the DCCI warned that it would also periodically carry such surprise checks and will further not tolerate such conditions to operate.
Stating that DCCI and business community would support the initiative of HFWD in letter and spirit, DCCI president, Akashe Zhimomi requested the HFWD and DMC to extend help and assist DCCI to work out the mechanism to ensure vegetables, fruits eatables are under constant monitoring and fit for human consumption.
