DC Wokha bans hunting of wild animals

Dimapur, February 29: Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha through an official notification received from the Commissioner of Nagaland, and advisory issued by Principal Director, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Nagaland, declaring Public Health Emergency of International concern of the outbreak of Novel Corona Virus (Cov.ID-19) in China and other parts of the World.
Deputy Commissioner informed all concerned Village Councils under Wokha District to immediately impose ban on hunting of wild animals in their respective jurisdiction with immediate effect.
Reports and past experiences with Corona Virus and other respiratory viruses suggest that there may have been transmission of virus from wild animals to human and in the light of such event, prevention is always better than care.
Therefore, all the village council is directed to strictly comply with the Government directive. This order shall come in to force from the date of issue of this order till further notice.
