DC Tuensang issues directive to pharmacies

Dimapur, April 26: The Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Nokchasashi has informed pharmacies/medical stores in the district that as per Rule 65 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 drugs mentioned under Schedule ‘X’, ‘H’, and ‘H1’, which are restrictive in nature, should be sold only based on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner and only the amount specified in the prescription.
The sale of those drugs should be recorded in a separate register mentioning the name and address of the prescribed and the patient, the drug, and the quantity sold and such records should be maintained for three years and be open for inspection.
Also, all the pharmacies and medical stores selling Schedule ‘X’, ‘H’ and ‘H1’ have been directed to install CCTV cameras by June, along with the proper recording and storage of minimum 2 months data. Footage of the CCTV cameras will be regularly checked by the District Drug Controller Authority/District Enforcement Force, Tuensang.
