Dimapur, May 4: Deputy Commissioner of Phek has notified the outbreak of African Swine Flu (ASF) in Phek and Kiphire, and requested the public to remain cautious and vigilant, and report any unusual mortality of domestic pigs & feral pigs to the Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer, Phek.
The DC informed that it is a highly infectious and contagious hemorrhagic viral disease of pigs with 100% fatality, and no treatment/vaccine.
Control, containment, surveillance and following of bio-security measures are the only way to eradicate the disease, he informed.
The Chief Veterinary Officer will monitor the situation and create awareness to contain the spread of African Swine Flu. (Page News Service)
