DC Mon warns

Dimapur, August 21: Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K has warned that Village Councils & Village Development Boards of villages found taking law into their hands would be dissolved immediately.

In a circular, the DC stated Government has appointed GBs, Chairmen, VDB Secretaries and VGs in different villages across the district as the custodial heads of the village; and they are expected to maintain law and order within their respective villages and also preserve cordial relationship with their neighbouring villages.
Also, as the custodial heads, they should resolve all issues in a civilised manner or report to the District Authorities for amicable solution of all issues, he said.
However, the DC, many villagers, with the active participation of the appointed village heads, are taking law into their hands, leading to loss of property and creating apprehensions and mistrust in the society.
He warned villages that all developmental works, assistance (both CSS and State Schemes) will be stopped indefinitely, if any individuals or groups create problem by taking law into their hands which is detrimental to peace and tranquillity in the society. (Page News Service)
