DC Kohima holds review meet on child protection

Dimapur, April 25: In the wake of the recent shocking physical assault on a minor girl working as a babysitter in their home by a State Government officer and his wife at Kohima, the DC Kohima, Anoop Khinchi, IAS, who is also the chairman, District Child Protection Unit today convened a meeting of all concerned departments and stakeholders at his office to discuss the issue of child rights and child protection.
The meeting was held with the purpose to review the system set in place to protect the rights of children and ensure that they are not exploited in any way.
The meeting was attended by various departments and stakeholders namely Labour Department, District Education Office, CMO, District Child Protection Unit, Child Welfare Committee, Kohima and Child-line Kohima. A number of burning issues related to child rights and child protection was discussed at length during the meeting with much focus on sensitizing the general public regarding the prevailing situation and the need to take more concrete steps to ensure that no child is exploited in any way or form.
