Dimapur, May 3: DC Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS has banned throwing of waste into the drainage and on the road side at Old Minister’s Hill and Jail Colony Kohima with immediate effect.
In an order, the DC also issued authorization to the PWD (R&B) South Division Kohima to immediately clear the clogged drains including the garbage dumped on the road side.
The DC issued the order in view of the fact that with onset of monsoon, the clogged drains will result in the overflow of sewage onto the roads and create bad traffic congestions, adversely affecting the daily commute of people, pollute the overall hygiene of the locality and even trigger landslides.
The DC warned that anybody doing so and obstructing the works of the PWD (R&B) will be penalized as per provisions of law. He requested all concerned to extend their full cooperation.
Directives to garages, workshops
DC Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS has directed all vehicle garages, workshops and servicing stations operating along the New Secretariat Road to remove all run-down vehicles parked on the road beyond the garage premises within five days with immediate effect.

He also ordered that the vehicle servicing stations and car washes to ensure that water and other effluents do not flow on to the road and is properly disposed off without affecting the neighbourhood and environment.
The DC Kohima issued the order after observing that vehicle garage, workshop owners and servicing stations operating along the New Secretariat Road are encroaching on the road with their activities, thereby affecting traffic flow and also destroying the road.
The DC warned that failure to adhere to the order shall invite penal action as per provision of the law. (Page News Service)
