DC Dimapur holds meet on mass social work


Dimapur, September 27: Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel(IAS) convened a meeting today, in connection with the State wide social work, which will commence from September 29 till October 2.
In the meeting, Sushil informed that all the 5 legislators under Dimapur district has confirmed their participation to take part in the social work. A short inaugural function to kick start the social work programme will be held at City Tower Dimapur on September 29 at 7a.m., for which the DC has directed all HODs to attend the programme.
After the inaugural programme all concerned will go in their respective wards/colonies and start the social work. Besides DMC and the mechanical department, DC sought help from the contractors for providing dumpers / JCBs and informed that fuel expenses would be given by the government.
DC also directed for ensuring proper traffic regulation for smooth cobduct of social work.
DPRO Dimapur has been entrusted to oversee town announcement from tomorrow and also for providing Public address system during the inaugural and culmination programme.
ADC Dimapur, Albert Ezung informed that September 30 would be off being Sunday and social work would resume on October 1. He further informed that on October 2 all the departments would be cleaning their respective office compounds starting from 7am and thereafter a culmination programme would be held at DCs office at 11.noon.
A sanitation committee has been constituted which would be visiting all the localities for assessing the cleanest ward/ village and 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes carrying a cash prize of Rs.10,000, Rs.7000 and Rs.5000 will be given to the winning wards/ villages, Ezung informed. Albert informed that the main emphasis of the social work would be to clear the clogged drainages and asked the village/ ward chairmen for identification of such areas and informed that machineries would be provided.
He also informed that drinking water would be provided and for which he asked the colony/ward chairmen to collect the same from DCs office.
ADC also requested all the ward and colony chairmen to arrange volunteers for picking the garbages in their respective jurisdiction and transporting it in the dumper. Control room will be set up at DCs office where the citizens can ask for any queries relating to the conduct of social work. All the administrative officers would be detailed for supervision in different wards/ colonies/ village, he added.
Social work at Dimapur would be undertaken by involving all the elected members under Dimpur district, police, NGOs; civil societies, ward/ colonies/ contractors and Government employees.
