DAPCU conducts awareness campaign

Dimapur, February 17: An awareness campaign was conducted at Tetso College on February 17 by the District Aids Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), with the support of National Aids Control Organization(NACO), in commemoration of 75 years of India’ s Independence.
A press release from the college informed that the team from DAPCU disseminated information regarding HIV/AIDS and TB prevention and services, developing an understanding about the infection, to reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS and TB, and also to encourage blood donation within youths.
The resource person Meceivinuo, DPO of DAPCU, highlighted on HIV/AIDS, causes, its prevention and emphasised on reducing stigma and discrimination.
She also encouraged the students to spread awareness among the masses.
This was followed by Dr. Benchillo, District Tuberculosis Officer, who presented on TB, causes, its prevention and cure.
Orenthung Ngullie, District Supervisor of DAPCU, shared on blood donation, his experience, and the importance of voluntary blood donation.
A total of 50 RRC members, accompanied by two RRC nodal officers, attended the event.
