Nagaland News

Dimapur, March 26: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (DAH&VS) held an introductory meeting with its Advisor Kazheto Kinimi and Commissioner and Secretary Vikeyie Kenya on March 24, at the conference hall of Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Kohima.
During the meeting, Kinimi spoke about the importance of DAH&VS as a major and key department that can contribute directly to the economic growth of the state and affect the lives of the rural population. He mentioned that the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed a huge importance on the animal husbandry sector and that a separate ministerial portfolio for animal husbandry, dairying and fisheries has been created under the Modi government.
Kinimi sought the cooperation and support of the officers and the department to realise its potential and work towards improving the department. He also emphasised the need for discipline and order within the department and for officers to work with mutual respect and cooperation with one another and transparency.
Kinimi suggested that the state government needs to see results from the government departments as it spends a huge amount of its budget on the salaries and welfare of the government employees. Necessary transfers and postings of the officers may be required soon and therefore officers were requested to comply accordingly.
The programme was chaired by DAH&VS director Dr Nsanthung Ezung and an overview of the department’s activities was delivered by Additional Director Dr N Thungben Yanthan. DAH&VS commissioner and secretary to the Government of Nagaland Vikeyie Kenya also delivered an address during the meeting.
