Aizawl, July 2: The Mizoram Government is making efforts to set up its first cyber crime police station here to deal with the growing incidents of cyber crime, including misuse of the social media, a senior police officers said.
Deputy Inspector-General (Northern Range) Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said all necessary action is being taken to set up a separate full-fledged cyber crime wing and police station by elevating the existing cyber crime cell under the CID.
Khiangte said bank frauds, using information technology and abuse of social media, have been steadily increasing in the state, which have necessitated the establishment of a separate cyber crime unit to deal with growing incidents of cyber crime especially against women and children.
“In most cases, women and children become victims of cyber crime. The state Government is also trying to set up a cyber forensic laboratory and a cyber training centre,” he said. (TTNE)
