Dimapur, May 22: District level assessment camp for children with special needs (CWSN) under District Mission Authority (DMA) SSA, Kohima district was held Friday at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima.
Speaking at the camp, Principal Secretary, School Education and SCERT, Menukhol John said that the department will assess and try to provide the best equipments to the children with locomotor disability, visual impairment and hearing impairment free of cost.
Stating that many children require surgical interventions, which the department would refer them to the hospital, he said the team has been trying to tie up with certain hospital for the same, so that they can give treatment to the children. He encouraged the children not to think that they are different from the rest of other children as every single child is special and further called upon them to avail the aids and use it judiciously.
Inspecting the camp, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Anoop Khinchi while interacting with department officials informed that more exercise would be conducted soon and advised the parents of special needs children to come forward with the children to avail the privilege.
Assistant District Coordinator, SSA Kohima, Thongsenlo informed that second phase of assessment camp will be held soon. Altogether 149 children attended the camp today.
Peren: Assessment camp for children with special needs was conducted on May 16 at EBRC Peren town. 46 children with special needs attended and availed the facility.
