Dimapur, May 1: The Consumer Rights Organization (CRO) Nagaland has expressed deep concern over the COVID-19 cess on petrol, diesel and motor spirit by Rs 6 and Rs 5 by the State Government, and urged the Government to rollback its order or instead slash cess on fuel during such critical crisis.
“The state government should focus on the welfare, sustenance and health care facilities with utmost priority rather than burdening the consumer with such adamant and ungraceful policy during such pandemic crisis. The government is well aware that the entire populations of the state are going through tremendous hardship with calamitous situation for livelihood as result of this pandemic lockdown,” it said in a release.
Stating that such unfavorable move by the Government will have far reaching effect on consumers, the CRO said if fuel prices increases, every consumer’s commodities shall increase.
The CRO Nagaland again reminded the business communities to strictly follow Government orders and not hike price of commodities.
Meanwhile CRO informed that it carried out relief distribution for marginal and needy people in Dimapur on May 1. (Page News Service)
