Crisis in State BJP will be resolved soon: Patton

Kohima, July 1: Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of BJP Legislature Party, Y. Patton on Wednesday admitted internal disgruntlement within the party and move to remove incumbent State BJP president.
Interacting with media persons after a brief programme to distribute protective gears to Nagaland Secretariat Service Association at his official residence here, Patton said he has received a letter from ten districts BJP presidents demanding removal of State BJP president, Temjen Imna Along, who is also a Cabinet minister in the PDA Government.
Ten district unit presidents of BJP Nagaland had recently written a letter to BJP National general secretary (Org) in-charge of North East, Ajay Jamwal demanding Along’s removal as State president while alleging his style of functioning as “dictatorial and autocratic”.
They further alleged that the Phek district president, “who was officially elected as per the party constitution conducted by the State Returning Officer was unceremoniously removed on June 23, 2020 without any valid reason and four more district presidents are in his card to remove subsequently.”
They said that “one man one post policy should be immediately implemented in Nagaland at par with other states.” They also alleged that there is “no transparency” in the current State president’s management.
The memorandum was signed by the party’s Wokha, Kiphire, Phek, Kohima, Peren, Mon, Tuensang, Noklak, Aboi (organizational district) and Zunheboto unit presidents, while Phek district president, who has been elevated to the post of State executive member was also a signatory of the memorandum, a copy of which was addressed to BJP National general secretary i/c Northeast, Ram Madhav and Nagaland Deputy CM, Y Patton.
Patton said the matter will resolved at the earliest possible time.
As the letter was also addressed to the BJP national leaders, they are expected to visit the State soon to resolve the issue, said Patton.
Meanwhile, State BJP sources said that the BJP State office bearers (SOB) have called the disgruntled party leaders for a meeting to resolve the matter at the party’s head office here on Thursday. The meeting will be held without the presence of the State BJP president, sources said. (Page News Service)
