CPO urges Govt. to uphold notification on district creation

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 28: Reacting to some people’s out-cry and objection to the State Government’s decision of December 18 with regard to creation of new districts in Nagaland state, the Chakhroma Public Organization (CPO) today said that it had given a proposal to the State Government on October 30, 2021 in the matters of shifting of DC Dimapur office to its designated office at Chumoukedima stating, “ …if the State Government is not in a position to shift the Office of the Deputy Commissioner as notified and duly published in the Official Gazette (2. December 1997)… a new district be created …”
The CPO said the Government chose to create two new districts out of Dimapur district and notified on December 20, 2021.
In creation and drawing of the Chumoukedima district, CPO felt it was quite justifiable on the part of the State Government, clustering the contiguous Sub-Divisions, namely Seithekema, Dhansiripar and Medziphema.
In a press release issued by CPO president, Vichotuolie Mere, it said since its inception in 1997, Dimapur district headquarters was designated to be in Chumoukedima and there was no objection whatsoever, therefore, creation of EAC or SDO post in Chumoukedima does not arise.
On certain people “giving pressure” to the State Government to change its decision which was taken on December 18 last, the CPO took this as a “very serious matter” against the Government if it is going to reel under pressure and deviate from the decision taken not even a month back.
The CPO firmly state that “If the State Government fails to uphold even the notification of December 20, 2021 the CPO will demand for cancellation of newly created districts of Niuland and Chumoukedima and revert back to the existing Status Quo”.
