CPO urges Govt to revoke cess on petro, diesel

Dimapur, May 7: With the declaration and placing Nagaland state under Green Zone on COVID 19 pandemic by both central and state government, the village authority would relax passage to any bona-fide members within the state of Nagaland who wish to come to the village without any restriction.
The Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) stated that farmers would be given free passage in mending their fields at this season of cultivation. All necessary guidelines on quarantine and COVID 19 dead protocols would be diligently observe especially the villagers in compliance with the advisories of health ministry as well as all the orders issue by state government, it said.
In a press release issued by CPO president, Mikha Kenye and general secretary, Veduvo Rhakho, the organization urged the state government to revoke cess on petrol, diesel and motor spirit in the general interest of the general public.
Imposing such unprecedented ‘tax on tax’ at this critical juncture is very unfortunate and unacceptable where thousands of people are reeling to procure even for a daily needs under this COVID 19 lockdown, it said adding, prices on various essential commodities will automatically shoot up and the general public will be the first victim to suffer.
The CPO therefore urged the state government to review its decision for the welfare of the general public.
