Covishield vaccine dispatched to 9 districts of Nagaland

Kohima, January 14: Principal Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, Amardeep Singh Bhatia along with Principal Director Vizole Z Suokhrie flagged off the COVISHIELD vaccines to different districts from the Directorate of H&FW Thursday evening.
“We have received 26,500 vials of COVISHIELD today and we will be dispatching it to the 9 sites for the inauguration today itself,” Bhatia said.
The 26,500 doses will be used for around 12,000 beneficiaries in the first phase. The beneficiaries in the first phase will be health workers,” he said.
Lot of preparation has gone into the vaccination programme and as per the operational guidelines issued by the Government of India, we have also trained teams consisting of 5 vaccination officers including a vaccinator who will perform an intramuscular injection, he said.
Bhatia said the beneficiary lists have already been uploaded to COWIN portal, and the beneficiaries will be selected as part of session planning in each of the districts.
This will be a very closely monitored programme and we will ensure that there is ample security and little wastage of the vaccine, he added.
