Dimapur, September 19: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has issued a 4-day ultimatum to the Government of Nagaland to revoke the COVID-19 cess on petroleum products failing which the union along with its constituent units will close down all the petroleum outlets within its jurisdiction and supply from every entry indefinitely.
In an ultimatum submitted to the Chief Minister of Nagaland through the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, the DNSU said it had earlier raised serious concern on the COVID-19 cess on petrol and diesel and demanded revocation of the same, but lamented that the Government had failed to heed to their appeal till date.
The ultimatum urged the Government to be more responsible and nor rely on the general public to meet the State’s financial exigencies at this crucial period of time.
“The DNSU in its 3rd Union Assembly meeting along with all constituent units have discussed and affirmed to give 4 (four) days ultimatum for the date of submitting this letter to revoke the said COVID-19 cess on petroleum products,” said the ultimatum.
The ultimatum was signed by DNSU, Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union, Dimapur Ao Students’ Union, Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union, Chakhro Angami Kuda Students’ Union, Mao Students’ Union Dimapur, Rongmei Students’ Union Dimapur, Zeliang Students’ Union Dimapur, Chakhesang Students’ Union Dimapur, Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union, Poumai Students’ Union Dimapur, Tangkhul Students’ Union Dimapur and Pochury Students’ Union Dimapur.
